Howdy jbaker22,

The issue you're looking for is from September/October 1997.

American Cowboy has a web site: http://www.americancowboy.com/ . Near
the top of the page, there's a link for "Back Issues." But wouldn't
you know it, if you click on the link, it doesn't work.

So if you want an original copy of the magazine, I recommend that you
contact someone at Cowboy.com, which is connected with American Cowboy
magazine. Here is a contact page with e-mail addresses, phone
numbers, and a mailing address:

http://cowboy.com/contactus.shtml

But there's another option, if you want to see much of the Sept./Oct.
1997 issue right now.

I did a search for americancowboy.com on the Internet Archive's
Wayback Machine ( http://www.archive.org ), which keeps copies of many
old pages from the Internet. Eventually, I found these pages from the
Sept./Oct. 1997 issue:

 [Contents of the issue]

http://web.archive.org/web/19990902233112/www.americancowboy.com/backissues/0997/0997feature.html
[Feature story: "So long, Stalwart Rider"]

http://web.archive.org/web/19990902234753/www.americancowboy.com/backissues/0997/0997frontiers.html
[Frontiers: "The Passing of an Era"]

http://web.archive.org/web/19990903000239/www.americancowboy.com/backissues/0997/0997frontiers2.html
[Frontiers: "The Passing of an Era" (page 2)]

http://web.archive.org/web/19990903001919/www.americancowboy.com/backissues/0997/0997kids.html
[Kids' Corral: "Kids + Pets = Love"]

Except for the picture of the cover, these links do not include
images, which is a drawback of the Internet Archive. But it's
certainly a good way to see the old articles without tracking down the
original magazine.
