I'm looking for information about two paitings used in the "From Hell" movie with Johnny Depp. The movie is all about the "Jack the ripper case". I have put up the two paintings taken from the movie at my webpage so you can see them: http://www.flatoutrecords.com/ripper/ Especially interesed in the "painting2". Any information is appreciated. Note that it is not the William Hogarth's "The Reward of Cruelty" I'm looking for that is also starring in the movie. It's theese 2 paintings. Thanks in advance. | |

I'm not sure exactly about those paintings but they are "grotesques". I would go to a local library and use that as a key word and I'm sure you'll get close to what you're looking for. Like this: http://www.artcyclopedia.com/featuredarticle-2000-11-port3.html Leonardo, Michelangelo, Goya, Hieronymus Bosch, etc. All did "grotesque" paintings or drawings. Also if you're interested in this style of painting you absolutly MUST check out Odd Nerdrum (contempory). Hope some of this helps a bit. |
