I am trying to recover data from some 3 1/2 floppies created long
ago by a third party. I attempted to recover and install (from one
of the disks) the app that created them, but I receive the msg ' unable
to run install from a program disk that was copied with DOS copy
commands.' This I understand. The program title window is IBM
Assistant Series Backup/Install Ver 2.0 How can I obtain a copy of
this program to retrieve the data, and what is this IBM Assistant
Series?

any chance you can tell us the extension on the disks? It may simply
be .zip format... Or it may not.

I'm just wondering if the backup isn't merely a copy of the files...
They can't generally be more than a floppy in size, can they? And even
if you restored them, do you know which app to use to read them?

Thank you for the response. It will be a few days before I see the
party with the disks. I was attempting all this third hand. I will
send more info when I get my hands on the diskettes.
