I am trying to recover data from some 3 1/2 floppies created long ago by a third party. I attempted to recover and install (from one of the disks) the app that created them, but I receive the msg ' unable to run install from a program disk that was copied with DOS copy commands.' This I understand. The program title window is IBM Assistant Series Backup/Install Ver 2.0 How can I obtain a copy of this program to retrieve the data, and what is this IBM Assistant Series? |

any chance you can tell us the extension on the disks? It may simply be .zip format... Or it may not. |

I'm just wondering if the backup isn't merely a copy of the files... They can't generally be more than a floppy in size, can they? And even if you restored them, do you know which app to use to read them? |

Thank you for the response. It will be a few days before I see the party with the disks. I was attempting all this third hand. I will send more info when I get my hands on the diskettes. |
