Question ID: 374697
Hypothetical situation:

I am launching a site soon and aim to have approximately 1 million
visitors a months. Is this a realistic target to be achieved through
aggressive marketing? What methods should be used to achieve this
amount of traffic? Approximately what budget should I be looking to
spend to achieve such a target? Can you give me some specific urls of
companies that may be able to help in any way to achieve this target?
Although all marketing should be done online, what proportions of
budgets should be used for different methods of online marketings?

(It can be assumed, that the site is optimized completely for search
engines. If particularly relevant, the exercise can be done for
selling car insurance although a different product may need to be
substituted. Feel free to ask for any clarification)

"What industry are you in?"

Please note, that I did say at the end of my question, that if
necessary then to do it for car insurance. That was part of my
question, whether the aim was realistic.

What industry are you in? I'm afraid your question is too general to
receive a decent answer. I'll exaggerate to make a point.

If you are selling Betamax video tapes, the answer is you have a zero
chance of getting a million visitors.

If you are selling DVD's, of course, it's significantly better.

The demand makes a difference.

My guess is car insurance will quickly attract one million visitors
per month if the premiums are 1/2 the average for comparable coverage.
Unfortunately it would be years before you had a profit at such low
premiums. Unfortunately "agressive marketing" is costly, and will fail
if you don't treat your customers fairly after they make the first
payment. The only exception would be a product that catches the
public's eye and persists longer than beanybabies was the rage. Neil
