I think this novel was published between 1996 and 1998.  It DEFINITELY
has a one word title, most likely a plural word.  The synopsis:  A
man, who has been feeling depressed, begins to have contact with a
fairy who appears to this man every night in his dreams.  Sometimes
she appears in a tree.  Although he knows she is not real, he begins
to have an affair with her.  Over the course of the book, she helps
him through his depression.  The book also has (G rated) illustrations
in it.  Any clue?
