How precise an answer do you need?

From what I can tell from the map here:

http://snipurl.com/7vfy

the address in Irwin is almost exactly 5 miles from Trafford (using
the key for distances given with the map). In fact, 5 miles takes you
just about to the letter "r" in Trafford, by my reading.

This almost, but not quite makes it to the part of N. Versailles
township that juts in towards Trafford, and is the closest to your
address. The "jutting" part can be best seen on this census bureau
map:

http://www2.census.gov/geo/maps/urbanarea/uaoutline/UA2000/ua69697/ua69697_10.pdf

This map takes a while to load, and is a pain to manipulate, but with
some patience, you can find North Versailles Twp (light blue color
near bottom of the map) and you can also see the eastermost part of
the township jutting in towards Trafford.

Like I said....close, but it looks to me to be a bit more than five
miles to the nearest point. But it's hard to be precise, working off
different maps, and working off a screen rather than paper.

So, again...just how precise do you need to be...?

Taking a hint from another ga answer..
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=374793
A distance:
http://www.indo.com/cgi-bin/dist/place1=@123256?place2=north+versailles%2C+pa

A map:
http://www.mapblast.com/(rzoydernfcn3k5fzrqwazp55)/directions.aspx?&EndName=15137&EndLocation=40.37256%2c-79.80357&StartName=20+Barri+Dr%2c+Irwin%2c+PA+15642&StartLocation=40.37439%2c-79.66430&DataSetLangID=USA%2c409&RouteType=Quickest&RouteUnit=Miles

You *might* get one or two miles out of it, if you have more exact
coordinates, but you'd need to have someone who is actually in the
area to do that. I think county records would help you determine
eligibility for whatever you need, unless you are in dispute with
them. There isn't an easy way to determine the edge of a township..
from the Mapblast.com link, it seems that if you were anywhere west of
I76, you'd have a much better chance that you'd be within 5Miles.

According to the Mapblast link, zooming in you find that it appears to
indicate the slightly diagonal brown line separates Trafford and North
Versailles. Using the legend from the brown line to the green flag, it
appears to be within your range.

I'm sorry if this doesn't help. It's about the best I can offer without being there.
