Sculpture in York?s Museum Gardens
?York?s Museum Gardens will play host to five striking 20th century
sculptures from Saturday, July 17, in Sculpture in the Museum Gardens.
Four works from Yorkshire Sculpture Park, near Wakefield, will be put
in place until November 2005, as well as a work by the late York
sculptor, Austin Wright. The contemporary works will be placed around
the 19th century botanical gardens, giving visitors a new perspective
on a rich historic site which houses the Yorkshire Museum and the
ruins of the medieval St Mary?s Abbey.?
?The gardens last hosted a sculpture exhibition in the 1970s and this
new collaboration has come about thanks to support from Arts Council
Yorkshire, Yorkshire Forward and the Renaissance Group, as well as
Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Caroline Worthington, Curator of Fine Art
for York Museums Trust, said: ?We are delighted to be working with our
neighbours Yorkshire Sculpture Park on this project. We are sure that
the sculptures will look stunning in the wonderful gardens of the
Yorkshire Museum".

Natural History Museum gardens
?This spring and summer, visitors who wander the gardens of the
Natural History Museum may encounter elephants, hippos and troops of
children on safari. The Museum?s grounds will spring to life in April
with the launch of a new outdoor exhibition and the seasonal opening
of the Wildlife Garden.?
?Lifelike animal sculpture by Tessa Campbell Fraser will be on the
Museum?s west lawn from 9 April. These large-scale bronzes include a
family of three elephants, life-size hippos, a polar bear and a red

habitat for the elephants and hippos ? and unsuspecting visitors may
be caught out by a spray of water from the elephants? trunks.?

Suzhou Museum
?(Suzhou, China, March 1, 2004) ? Partnering with I.M. Pei Architect,
Pei Partnership Architects is currently designing the
15,000-square-meter Suzhou Museum in Suzhou, China. The museum is
meant to house the extensive artistic and cultural treasures of the
2,500-year-old city.?

?The new Museum Garden and its smaller Gallery and Administrative

Hi Judy10!
I found another interesting article for you.
New gardens at the Peace Museum, in Caen
Inauguration on 5th June 2004, 17h.
"The history of the Caen Memorial is also that of its gardens. It
began with the American garden, inaugurated in 1994. In 1995, in his
turn, the Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien inaugurated a garden
dedicated to the memory of his compatriots involved in the Battle of
Normandy."
"In 1996, the Duke of Kent unveiled the stele in the British garden.
On 5th June 2004, Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, member of the
British Royal Family will come to the Caen Memorial to open the
British gardens officially. In creating a new garden, the veterans
will be offering a place of contemplation and beauty to thousands of
visitors from around the world. They will be reaffirming their loyalty
to memory and to the undertaking of nations of goodwill to build a
peaceful history for future generations together."
