I would like guidance on how to effectively find information on my biological parents. I am not internet savvy and am frustrated with trying to figure out what resources are available. I recently was disappointed with my decision to pay a $90 fee to US Search for an extensive search that yielded nothing. Response was no information or record of my father exists. I don't know what resources they utilized but I find it hard to believe that a man who lived and worked in Texas for many years has no traceable info. I know he lived in Austin, TX in the late 1960's. As spelled on my birth certificate, his name is Jerry Muniz Urias. I believe he is in his early 60s. My grandfather did some research a few years back and I believe he still may live in Texas. I am not interested in a reunion but would like to eventually provide my child with info. on his heritage. Any advice on what websites, public records or resources to utilize would be helpful. I also would like to know current info on my mother although I lived with her until my teens I have not had contact with her in almost 20 years. I want to protect her privacy so I won't state her name but would like to get current information on her whereabouts as a family member believes she may have recently moved due to a job change. She lives in my state. I did a statewide white pages search and found multiple listings with her name. No clue as to which if any of the listings are for her. I don't want to call everyone listed as I have no desire to make contact. I just would like updated information. Thanks for any assistance. |

Dear apache-ga: Thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear that you were unable to find any information on your father. I have searched for several resources where you may find more information on your father, and I have found several you may found useful. I have also found one particularly promising lead for you. For your mother's information, I'm not sure how much you know of her, or of her location, but using these resources I have provided you, you can search for information on your mother in the same way. First, let me give you the most promising lead. I'm guessing that you have tried the Ancestry.com message boards in January of this year. If not, this lead would still be promising. If you did post on the Ancestry.com message boards, then I think you may have missed a reply to your message. I have linked to the reply to your original message below: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/message/an/surnames.urias/31.35 Other resources: There is an excellent website called "HowToInvestigate.com" with links to all available public record resources in any State. I have linked to the Texas page below: http://www.howtoinvestigate.com/texas.htm If you would like to see information for other states, just click on the state name at the top of the page. PublicData.com also offers a Public Records search, but it is a for pay service. However, it is the only one that I have found that offers Voter Registration records, which may be of use to you. Their website is below: http://www.publicdata.com/ Google Search Terms: austin texas "public records" ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&q=austin+texas+%22public+records%22 I hope this information was helpful to you! If you need any clarifications, please don't hesitate to ask. I would be more than happy to assist you further. Best Regards, blader-ga |
