I'm a Canadian, and would like to be able to legally live and work in
the United States. It seems to be very hard to find information on how
to do this that's thorough, yet easy to understand unless you're a
lawyer, which I'm not.

I have a Bacehlor's degree in biology (but no experience). I've worked
as a travel consultant for the past 9 months or so. Based, however, on
what I've been looking at, the H1 visa requires one to basically be a
"proessional" in some certain category. I hear that the TN-1 visa for
Canadians is easier to get, but you still must fall within a
"professional" category, and in both cases you must be offered a job
first. I'm not a Doctor... I don't have a Ph.D or anything. :(

My boyfriend lives in California so that's where I want to end up,
with him. Can anyone help me figure out what to do??????? I'm Canadian
- it can't be that hard, is it??? And getting married wouldn't help,
because he's not an American either, but managed to qualify for Asylee
status (I obviously could not, coming from Canada).

I know there's the option of "working under the table," but I'd really
rather not get into that. But is this my only choice if I'm ever to be
there with him???

Sooooooo.... if anyone could help me out, and tell me what to do, I
would really appreciate it. Thanks for your help. :)
