Hello. The best source for this kind of data of is U.S. Government's Bureau of Labor Statistics: "Mechanical engineers held about 215,000 jobs in 2002." http://stats.bls.gov/oco/ocos033.htm "Civil engineers held about 228,000 jobs in 2002" http://stats.bls.gov/oco/ocos030.htm "Electrical and electronics engineers held about 292,000 jobs in 2002" http://stats.bls.gov/oco/ocos031.htm "Chemical engineers held about 33,000 jobs in 2002. " http://stats.bls.gov/oco/ocos029.htm "Physicists and astronomers held about 14,000 jobs in 2002. Jobs for astronomers accounted for only 7 percent of the total." http://stats.bls.gov/oco/ocos052.htm (Subtracting out the 7% astronomers, figure about 13,000 non-astronomer physicists) ------ search strategy: "labor statistics" "chemical engineers" I hope this helps. | |
