Greetings, distraught.

I can certainly understand why you find this distressing.

However, once you get over the shock and surprise, you might be able
to notice that the porn links aren't referring to you. With millions
and millions of web pages and just as many peoples' names all over the
Internet, it is within the realm of possibility that someone else has
the same name that you do.

However, anyone with an ounce of sense who Googles your name is going
to realize that a porn link doesn't refer to you.

While you *could* try E-mailing, calling, or writing each of these
sites and requesting that they remove the reference which includes
your name, your chances of persuading these sites to do this range
from slim to none.

These websites would have no obligation to honor your request, since
you would have no legal basis for proving that their publication of
the name involved a deliberate attempt to smear you. What's more,
websites hosted by companies in countries outside of the USA are
notoriously impervious to any legal actions taken here.

And do you really want to give your name, address, e-mail address or
phone number to one of these sites, when you have no idea what they'll
do with the information???

I encourage you to take a look at the information I posted for another
person who is in a similar (but far worse) situation:
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=355593

Once you've had a chance to think about it, I hope that you'll agree
that this is not an issue on which you want to spend any of your time,
effort, and worry.

Best Wishes,

aceresearcher

Thank you, aceresearcher. However, I know for a fact my name is
unique. Moreover, I was published in Fortune magazine, and the phrase
that is included in the porn citation reads: "fortune article by XX
XX". Here it is:

Naughty videos, hardcore websites Best of the best, hardcore ...
... Voyeur hypothalamus tumor did not show on mri joyce anita waltman find her
address fortune article by tXXX bXXX now thank we all our god! ...
www.pwislam.com/teen/hardcore_ websites_best_of_the_best.html - Similar pages

(I put XXX next to my first and last name.)

Can't this be deleted? This looks like the deliberate result of somone
or just an electronic glitch. Can't this be fixed??? (I emailed the
Webmaster of the porn site and my email was returned.) Can't Google
delete this??

Thank you.

What some websites have done in the past is to cull "keywords" from
various sites into semi-nonsensical pages which are created simply for
the purpose of trying to get the Googlebot to crawl and index them --
in an attempt to show up in Google searches for totally unrelated
items. Try Googling on "aceresearcher" and check out the last (approx.
13th) entry. See what I mean?

For years, Google has taken a very "hands-off" policy in relation to
their Search Results. They will *not* alter or remove listings from
their index at your -- or anyone else's -- request.

However, what you **can** do is submit the websites which created the
junk pages containing your name in a Google Spam report. Their
software engineers analyze these reports to determine how to better
eliminate this kind of crap from their index. Your best hope is that
eventually this entry will disappear from Google's listing.

Fill in the information from your searches, check the following boxes:
"Misleading or repeated words"
"Page does not match Google's description"

Enter this additional information:
"Page contains random words designed to get site to show up in
searches for keywords unrelated to the website".

and submit these sites to Google's Spam Reporting URL:

In the meantime, as I said, anyone with an ounce of sense who Googles
your name is going to realize that these porn links don't really
involve you.

Best wishes,

ace
