Structured decision are pre-specified by a set of rules or decision process, they reflect in rule book, decision tables or regulation table. Programmed decision imply decision making under certainty since condition must be known and can be delegated to lower lowel for decision making.. As opposed Unstructured decision has no pre-established procedure, they are not reflected in any books, it is decision making under risk since conditions keep changing, and lastly these decisions are deligated to high level decision making. Ex.: Structured: Purchase of material by a company. Unstructured: Purchase of clothes by Women :-) Information system are better suited to structured decison making. For unstructured decision making expert systems are better. |
