Hi inquisitivereader,

Would this be a misdemenor or felony drug possession? What drug, how much?

It would help if you simply described what happened.

For instance, my son was pulled oved in a traffic stop and the police
found a full prescription medication bottle for Vicadin in his pocket.
it was not in his name. He was charged with "investigation of VUCSA"
(Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act) --but not *yet*
charged with possession. He was told (I have not verified), that
under WA State law, they have two years to file charges.

The drug in question was marijuana, about two ounces. I can't provide

The NORML (National Organization for Reforming Marijuana Laws) website
provides information on the Marijuana laws for each state. In your
case, Maryland (http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?wtm_view=&Group_ID=4542)
it looks like carrying any amount has the minimum punishment of a
misdemeanor and $1,000 fine, and that is just the MINIMUM punishment
for any amount. That is a lot harsher than most states.

But depending on the cop it could just be a slap on the rist and
dumping it out [a small amount] in the street. All in all, dont get
caught smoking weed in Maryland.
