I would like to know why post civil war reconstruction failed. I do
posses a good understanding of the basic tenets to the failure
but, what were the key issues that failed the process?

When you say that you have a good understanding of the tenets for
Reconstruction's failure, does that mean that you understand what a
certain set specific failures were and wish to explore the historical
consensus on why those failures happened? If so, could you please list
what you consider those failures to be. Then I would be very happy to
explore and explain the the causes of those for you.

I believe this approach will best give me a defined scope to research,
and more importantly it will give you the information you truly need.

I would be glad to; the set specific items I associate to the failure are;

Union Occupation
No real reconstruction plan
No transitional plan or thoughts for Freemen
Constitutional amendments hastily passed.
Assasination of Lincoln

These are my thoughts on why post civil war reconstruction faltered.
