Hello annie0052-ga, A lot was happening in the U.S.A. in 1968. I've found you a great website that lists a ton of information on events that year, with links to other facts about them. It gives you such information as: January 2 - Dr. Christian Barnard performs the first successful heart transplant. March 18 - Gold standard: The United States Congress repeals the requirement for a gold reserve to back US currency. June 5 - Robert F. Kennedy is assassinated by Sirhan Sirhan in Los Angeles, California November 5 - U.S. presidential election, 1968: In one of the closest elections in US history, Republican challenger Richard M. Nixon defeats Vice President Hubert Humphrey and American Independent Party candidate George C. Wallace. and much more! The 1968 Encyclopedia/Wikipedia http://united-states.asinah.net/american-encyclopedia/wikipedia/1/19/1968.html Google Search Used us history 1968 timeline ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=us%20history%201968%20timeline&btnG=Google+Search If this answer requires further explanation, please request clarification before rating it, and I'll be happy to look into this further. The 1960s cultural revolution was in full bloom. The hair was getting longer and the skirts were getting shorter. Jimi Hendrix releases "Electric Ladyland" in October 25, 1968. Apollo 8, with Borman, Lovell (later of Apollo 13), and Anders orbit the moon on Dec 24, 1968. http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/lunar/apollo8info.html Timothy Leary released his book, "High Priest". http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Timothy%20Leary |
