Hi linchpin,

This piece is the Piano Sonata "Pathetique" (2nd Movement "Adagio
Cantabile"), composed by Ludwig van Beethoven.

I found the title of the piece mentioned on this website:
http://www.iespana.es/labellaylabestia_es/bandasonoraENG.htm
(see "Scores" on the right)

I also found it mentioned here as well:
http://members.fortunecity.de/rowena/music_refer.html
(For some reason, my browser kept crashing when I clicked on this link)

If you also experience difficulty accessing the page, then go to:

Here's a nice sound clip:

Beethoven's Sonata No. 8 in C Minor, Op 13 -- Adagio Cantabile"
(performed by Radu Lupu)

Search terms used:
music piano beauty beast siege
"Sonata Pathetique" Beethoven beauty beast siege
"Sonata 'Pathetique" "Adagio Cantabile"

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

An interesting bit of music trivia: Billy Joel uses this same musical
theme -- Beethoven's "Pathetique" Piano Sonata (2nd mov't.) -- in his
song "This Night", recorded on his album "An Innocent Man", first
released in 1983.
