A Massachusetts town billed ONE heir of an estate for property tax on
a parcel of land for 5 years in the 1980's. He did not respond nor did
he tell the other heirs. Therefore, the town had the title to the land
declared"owners unknown". Then. in 2002, the town hired a law firm to
find the heirs and notify them that the town was going to foreclose
for unpaid taxes. Nobody had been billed for about 15 years. Can the
town now demand taxes for all the 20 years or are they limited to the
last 5 ?
