For an American expatriate living in Singapore, what kind of difficulties are in place to freely obtaining media from other countries (say CDs, DVDs, video games from U.S. or Japan)? If I want to buy a CD/DVD from eBay or Amazon, would I have problems getting it shipped to me? Are there known techniques or workarounds people use to get access to desired media? |

Hi I am a singaporean studying abroad at Cornell, so i have a pretty good idea of the problems you might be facing. In general, you can order stuff online and have them delivered, but sometimes authorities do open up parcels and packages to check for illegal contents. In general, NO pornography NO anti govt materials NO dildos, sex toys or weapons A good friend of mine ordered a crossbow over ebay but it was detained at customs. He was sent a letter telling him that weapons were nota llowed in singapore. The best way to smuggle stuff in would be to bring it on your hand luggage. Thats how I get my 8 seasons of south park (yes, it's banned, so is sex and the city). I make trips back twice a year and I do it all the time. Just dont bring in any drugs, etc. |

Hi, Using courier service(DHL,Fedex,UPS) will definitely have a higher chance of getting your stuff in. Although not 100%. Hope this helps. |
