Where can I find the performers and the audio file of the song "Avanti
Popolo" from the movie "Avanti Popolo" by Rafi Bukai from 1986?

Hi,
thanks for the comments, my question was not in general about Avanti
Popolo song, but rather about the version (or the performance) from
the movie Avanti Popolo - and where could I find it. I am aware of the
jewish film festivals, and I did see the movie myself, but this
particular performance of the song is what I wasn't able to find.
Thanks a lot!

Information on Avanti Popolo can be found on the Internet Movie Database
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090677/
and on San Francisco Jewish Film Festival website
http://www.sfjff.org/cgi-bin/sfjff_resource.pl?titleID=846

There is a VHS copy at the University of Texas, but they don't do off
Campus loans. Still you might contact them. May be in your
neighborhood.

The director Rafai Bukai passed away this year. Avanti popolo was
part of the retrospective at the Israeli Film Festival in Los Angeles.

The retrospective films don't seem to be travelling with the rest of
the festival. You might contact them at
http://www.israelfilmfestival.com/iff04/contact.aspx but they'll have
a 35 mm print most likely.

There is a short review of the film on this site. The source is
listed as a fellow in New York, you might consider contacting him,
perhaps he has a video of the film.

Alternately the song may also be sung in Bernardo Bertolucci's 1900

per http://www.voiceoftheturtle.org/dictionary/dict_a1.php#avantipopolo
it's the song bandiera rossa. This site has an atrocious midi version
http://home.planet.nl/~elder180/strijdlied/bandierarossait.htm but
that should help confirm if it is indeed the right song. If so you
may want to purchase a different version.

forgot the contact for the New York reviewer:
http://members.aol.com/jewfilm/jewz1.html#Avanti

And finally, there are many jewish film festivals and in August
there's one in Pennsylvania screening Avanti Popolo, where the
producer will be honored with an award and give a talk about the film.
If that's not in your area, and you're so inclined, you may want to
look for Jewish Film Festivals in your area. As I wrote the director
passed away this year and more places may showcase this work.
