i have a question to ask about a wiring harness for a 2000 dakota.
seems that the wiring around my relays got so hot they burned I need
to find someone who knows if this is unusual or if this has happened
with other dakota trucks?

The short answer is that I have found evidence that at least one other
person has experienced this same problem. However, there have not
been too many reports of it, and this was not a large enough problem
for Dodge to recall or fix the problem:
[ http://www.alldata.com/TSB/17/001726EQ.html ] Can you describe in
greater detail where this particular wiring harness is located, and
what the wires going through it are supplying power or signal to?

this is my sons vehicle so I was not able to get much info but he
indicates that the wires that showed the burn were in the engine
compartment in the main electrical control box. the relay that the
service company said needed to be replaced was one that controled the
radiator cooling fan. The company that fixed the problem indicated
that they also soldered some wires back upto the relay contacts. They
indicated that the cpu unit now needed to be replaced. hopefully this
helps. Thanks
