I have travelled recently to India and came back for my Master's
Degree. While i re-entered, I was given a new I-94 () card with a new
number on it. The INS official at the port of entry striked off the
existing number and wrote the original I-94 number that i had
previously and which was on my I-20.
I had gone to take my license in New Jersey a few days ago and They
wanted me to get a new I-94 , the reason being that from Jan 2004 the
INS Does not give the same number I-94 on re-entry.
Can you please clarify my situation.
