Looking for a good free tool that will show me statistic from the log files from my web server (visitors, referrals, etc.), preferable with ability to create graphics. I have already Web Log Explorer, but it is buggy and hangs if log file is big. |

Hi Try this http://www.awstats.org/ "AWStats is a free powerful and featureful tool that generates advanced web, ftp or mail server statistics, graphically. This log analyzer works as a CGI or from command line and shows you all possible information your log contains, in few graphical web pages. It uses a partial information file to be able to process large log files, often and quickly. It can analyze log files from IIS (W3C log format), Apache log files (NCSA combined/XLF/ELF log format or common/CLF log format), WebStar and most of all web, proxy, wap, streaming servers, mail servers (and some ftp)." it's free and i think it's the one which you're looking for :) You can see the comparison here http://awstats.sourceforge.net/docs/awstats_compare.html Regards tinx78 |

If you need data for a short period, why not try the web Stats Gold, found at http://www.webstatsgold.com It offers a 30 days free trial. It has these features: Real-time Web site Traffic Analysis Power For Your ECommerce Business How many sales did you make this month compared to last month? Which ad campaigns made money - or wasted it? What percentage of your visitors turn into buyers? Do most of your sales come from new or return visitors? Knowledge like this is vital to the success of your Internet marketing efforts. Web Stats Gold gives true Internet business analysis, not just statistics. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not just numbers, but real business analysis. No other service can tell you that 17% of sales came from new visitors, while 83% came from returning visitors. Or that overall visitor count is up 37% over the same period last quarter. Web Stats Gold gives you numbers like these and more. Would you like to know how many buyers came from each of your ads, not just an empty hit count? After all, the purpose of ads it to attract buyers, not just traffic. Others tell you what your numbers are. We tell you what they mean! Our Power Tools show you trends, percentages of change, advertisement performance, referrals, and much more. Our new interactive charts and Insta-Trend indicator (the green line on the chart above) will tell you with a glance the current trend for virtually every aspect of your e-commerce business. Our Features Page will tell it all. |

If you are not allowed to run script on your server, then try statcounter (www.statcounter.com). Their statistical reports are very specific. Free to use. |

If you are serious about doing business on the web, you will need more than raw traffic stats. You will only get a vague idea about the growth of your business. It is pretty hard to tell raw numbers just WHY your site is, or is not, growing. You need something that will show the percentage of growth for each of your categories. You should also have something that can track your ads and sales. It should show you how many of your visitors turned into buyers, and even how your numbers have changed over time. This will tell you which of your ads are making you money and which are wasting it. Raw stats will not tell you that your new visitors are spending more (or less) time on the site. One of the first warning signs that things are beginning to fail is the amount of time spent viewing each page. This is a real easy way to tell if your visitors are losing interest. And it will show up long before any other problem becomes obvious. HighNoon is correct. http://www.webstatsgold.com appears to have all of this and more. The first 30 days are free anyway. It is not free, but it sure appears to give you more than your money's worth. I found out about it when a friend of mine who runs a dating site recently tried it. Now he has started using it full time. It is what I am planning on using when I get my web site up. Regards, Singapore Slim |
