We were given an organ that we no longer want. [Eminent 1600 orchestra, series 4, made in Bodegraven, Holland] We would like to sell this organ to a company or store. If that it not feasible, our other option would be to donate it. We live in Worcester, MA and would need it to be transported from our second floor apartment. Could you provide the name of 2 companies or stores which would buy and transport this organ? If there are none, which charities would take this organ and provide a receipt for tax purposes? |

I have no detail about your musical instrument, but it has little value unless it is very old or has some other special feature. Typically a $100 key board will out perform it in nearly all respects and is much more portable. Connected to a quality amplifier the keyboard even sounds better to most people's ear. Neil |

I agree that organs are very difficult to resell. I recommend you find a charity to take it. The standards (Goodwill, Salvation Army, St. Vincent DePaul's) should all be willing to take it. Kriswrite |

A small church might be delighted to have an "organ donor." There are usually many nondenominational, "storefront" churches and missions in most towns. |

I suggest you post an ad on the Boston version of CRAIGS LIST, where people buy and sell all kinds of things and look for apartments and jobs. It's totally free. http://www.craigslist.org Then click on Boston. You could post the ad on MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS FOR SALE and/or under the category of ANNOUNCEMENTS -- there are several categories you could place it in. The system updates itself continuously, just like Google Answers, so you might have to post it again several days later. Also -- a music school in Boston might want it and be willing to pay for transport. A local nursing home. A local high school. But -- if you can wait, you might get better response to an ad in September. July and August so many people are away on vacations. |
