Dear Question920

A wedding can be arranged without a blood test or a waiting period;
once you have a license, a justice of the peace can unite you in
marital bliss in five minutes. Cost $55.00

Ok, I have a good general idea, but still not quite everything I asked for...
I followed your Fodor's link and found this:
For a no-frills, justice-of-the-peace nuptial ceremony, visit the
Commissioner of Civil Marriages (309 S. 3rd St., Downtown), where a
surrogate-J.P. deputy commissioner will unite you in holy matrimony
for $35.

Is this place open on weekends? Do we need to bring our own witness or
would there be someone available there? Do we need to bring formal wear
or can we just show up wearing jeans? How about shorts?

Thanks.

Hello again Question920,

Commissioner of Civil Marriages
309 S. 3rd St., 1st floor
Las Vegas, NV 89155-1603

Is this place open on weekends?

Yes

Office Hours
8:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, including weekends and holidays

Marriage Commissioner's Office
http://www.co.clark.nv.us/clerk/Civil_Marriage.htm

Do we need to bring our own witness or would there be someone available there?

?Nevada Revised Statutes require that wedding ceremonies must be
witnessed. The Marriage Commissioner's Office is generally not able to
provide a witness.

If you do not have a witness, you may wait in the lobby for another
couple to arrive. By mutual consent, one of them can witness your
ceremony and one of you may witness theirs.

Usually, the wait is not very long. Alternatively, you may leave and
return with a witness of your choice.

If you choose to wait, please sign the log on the counter and advise
the Deputy Commissioner that you are waiting.?

Do we need to bring formal wear or can we just show up wearing jeans?
How about shorts?

The Marriage Commissioner's Office does not state dress requirements
however they do provide this phone number (702) 455-4415 to make
inquires.

Please note that the fee is $50.00 cash, all hours. Exact change is required.

I hope this additional information is helpful!

Thanks, great info. You forgot to mention that some chappels offer
complimentary limousine service and other freebies while matching
or beating the Marriage Commissioner's fee of $50. Thus one star
knocked off.
