Hello again collegestudent,
The entire oil production industry in Saudi Arabia is in the hands of
Saudi Aramco.
Their website is at:
http://www.saudiaramco.com/cgi-bin/bvsm/home.jsp
They have a subsidiary called:
Saudi Refining Inc.
Headquarters: 9009 West Loop South
Suite 11081
Houston, Texas 77096, USA
which buys and sells crude oil and manages North American-Saudi joint
ventures.
Two more of their subsidiaries are:
Aramco Services Company (ASC)
Headquarters: 9009 West Loop South
Houston, Texas 77096 USA

(doesn't that mailing address look familiar?)
and:
Aramco Gulf Operations Company Limited
Headquarters: P. O. Box 688

Saudi Refining and Shell co-own Motiva, see:

refineries co-owned with their trading partners in Greece, the
Philippines and Korea.

We need to straighten out a possible misunderstanding.
I worked on this question originally following your instructions that
you wanted to know who was *selling* Saudi crude. Crude oil is oil
before it has been refined into products that can be used, like
gasoline, avaiation fuel and so on. As I've said, the Saudis pretty
much control the distribution and sale of their own crude oil.
But there are other companies who buy Saudi crude, refine it and then
sell refined petrochemical products - gasoline etc. - which are made
from the Saudi raw material.
Apart from Motiva and Shell, other US companies buying substantial
amounts from Saudi Arabia are Chevron, Marathon and Exxon but this may
be changing as relationships between Washington and Saudi Arabia
worsen in the post-9/11 political climate. See

In your clarification you mention the "selling of the crude oil and
gas"
While studying the oil/petrochemical industry, beware of the word
'gas'. I guess you mean raw natural gas not gasoline and I think
Aramco dominates the scene here too.
There is more information on the industry from a Saudi point of view
at:
http://www.the-saudi.net/oil/index.htm
And you may find the US Dept. of Energy has useful facts and figures:
http://www.iea.org/statist/key2001/key2001/p_0103.htm
You will find contact information for other major oil companies at:
http://www.fortune.com/lists/G500/indsnap_40.html
Good luck with your course. I sure am curious to know what
transglobal soybean/pork/fertiliser/crude oil project you are working
on.
Hope this will help you in the petrochemical section of your studies
but let me know if anything needs clarification.
search strategy using terms:
Saudi crude oil petrochemical export import
then "Saudi Aramco" and other companies found as searches progressed
and "Fortune 500 Global" |

Hi collegestudent
Hope your studies are going well.
Before I give you more contact details, I thought I'd explain what
some of the problems are.
1 Some petrochemical industry facts and figures are only available in
expensive reports for subscribers who have between $100 and $1000 to
spend. Some of this subscriber-only info might be in a university
library.
2 Some companies may not want to say where they're getting their oil
from for political or other reasons.
3 Some websites are rather unreliable, especially outside the more
developed countries. (can't make the Ssang Yong one work for me at
all.)
So enough of my troubles.
I have come up with more contact info on Motor Oil in Greece:
Motor Oil Hellas mailing address for financial questions is:
12A Irodou Attikou Street, P.O. BOX 677171, 151 24, Maroussi, Athens,
Greece
(according to this website:
http://www.capitallink.com/prs/cosearch.php3?company=121 )
or another address is:
Address : 2 Karageorgi Servias Street
Town / City : Athens 105 62
Country : Greece
Telephone : +30 10 324 6311
Telefax : +30 10 322 3976
Telex : 218245/218249 moto gr
( got this from: http://www.bunkerworld.com/companies/suppliers/m/bs_motoroilgr.htm
)
I already gave you MOH's web address.
The Philippines company, Petron, is part of PNOC.
Their details are:
Reservoir and Resource Management
PNOC Complex, Energy Center 4B-3/F
Merritt Road
Fort Bonifacio
Makati City, MM 1201
Philippines
Telephone (+63) 2 - 840 18 91

Internet www.energy.com.ph
(info from:

)
Repsol seems to be the major Spanish oil company but it is saying
nada/nothing about any Saudi connection.
Try:
http://www.repsol-ypf.com/eng/herramientas/mapaweb/mapa.asp?IDMenu=129#
and a mailing address:
Paseo de la Castellana, 278 - 280. 28046 Madrid. España.
(This website told me it was the "foremost" Spanish oil company:
http://www.commtouch.com/news/english/2000/pr_071100.shtml )
Singapore is named as a major export market for Saudi oil in the
context of a game at:
http://www.geocities.com/diplomacy_political_warfare/trading_partners.html
You could ask the Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore about this.
contact:

or fax (65) 2917661
or their website is:

In France Total Elf claims to be the leader in the industry and has an
office in Saudi Arabia. Contact them at:

As for Hong Kong I'm not getting very far.
This document confirms that Europe, the US and Japan are the top three
importers of Saudi crude oil:
http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/cabs/saudi.html
There is a big list of links to the oil and gas industry at:
http://directory.google.com/Top/Business/Industries/Energy/Oil_and_Gas/
but it hasn't turned up any more than this about what happens to Saudi
crude when it leaves Aramco's hands. I wonder if Aramco themselves
might help here?
Hope you can make use of these contacts. Perhaps your source of
information on Spain and Hong Kong might help you out with these
countries.
Good luck with your studies. And let me know if anything here needs
explaining.
