I am asking a three part question:
1. What is the best way to get stretched out and loose again?
2. How to stay motivated, the elements of such, for ongoing practice?
3. What are the resources I could look for to support my new health practices?

I am almost 60 years old, and have struggled with fibromyalgia for
many years, and also have gained weight. I have a CPAP machine, and
take medications for symptom control. However, I am very concerned
that I'm losing my flexibility, tight hamstrings, back stiffness, and a
generalized stiffness in my muscles.

I used to practice Yoga, and I used to work out, bike, hike, etc. Now
I mostly sit in a desk chair and work.

I have had problems with getting motivated to do Yoga alone at home,
and am only able to practice Zazen with any rigour. I am too far from
town/city to go to the gym comfortably on a schedule. Again, however,
Yoga was my forte when I was in my early 20's and I know it would work
again...IF....

I find I don't like to go outside, and my allergies are problematic.

My question is this: What is the best way for me to regain my
flexibility, and also begin going outdoors more, with less phobic
attitudes, and with an eye to having fun, with an eye to expanding my
view of life and beauty.

There is no pool to swim in unless I drive an hour. No bicycle is
going to work since I have coccyx bone problems. The gym is an hour's
ride away.

Is there a way to self-motivate for Yoga? What are the varieties of
Yoga instructors "out there." I don't know what to look for. Big
classes seem frightening to me. Do people find individual yoga
instructors? How much do they usually cost (I'm in rural
Louisiana.)Do online Yoga groups exist and do they help?

RESOURCES: I am seeking resources, specific and effective when used.

Then generally, in an essay: What are the key elements of being and staying
motivated on a path toward Yoga, or other stretching and loosening
(perhaps strength building) exercises or practices? I need to make a
plan to stay motivated, and don't know what to do since my resolutions
and will power seem to be not adequate to get me onto the mat.

This may seem stupid, and it may well be, but I'm asking how to get
unstuck from this painful stiffness lifestyle, and how to stepwise
move into activity and yoga-like stretching and exercise.

Coach out there? Yogin? Please write your answer in essay (or like a
letter) to me pointing out all the key elements of the problem and
successful means to overcome the obstacles, and point out the steps I
need to take. I believe I need clear steps since I'm stagnated in
this.

References: Books, DVD's, videos, whatever you might recommend will be
the bonus plus to the answer.
