In 2001, the Census Bureau counted 8,057 software-publishing company. However, there is no figure for business software in particular (http://www.census.gov/epcd/susb/2001/us/US51.HTM#N514). |

Per the listings on http://www.findaccountingsoftware.com/ there are 1,764 business accounting software providers. By provider this includes only software developers and not software sellers. "Accounting Software" included on this site includes only business related products and include applications such as inventory control software, payroll software, General Ledger software, accounts receivable software, accounts payable software, MRP software, etc. You can find a complete category list at http://www.findaccountingsoftware.com/software/application/ This list excludes general business applications such as: word processors, spreadsheets, database products, CAD software, networking software, etc. This list also excludes software products typically used personally such as Microsoft Money, Quicken, etc. |
