I assume at some point gmail might add this functionality, but is
there any logical way to move my email sitting on IMAP servers and/or
in outlook .PST files into gmail? This is a bit tricky, as I don't
want to just "forward" mail as that makes it all appear to have come
from myself. I want to "resend" it so that the orginal sender info is
intact.
I tried a program called "resend for outlook" but it constantly
crashed and did not work at all. Is there some sort of utlity that
will pull directly from an IMAP server and resend? This sounds like
something a unix wizard could do easily, but I'm all Windows these
days.

Hi!!

I think that I found what you are looking for!!

At "GMail Utilities" I found the following software:
"Google GMail Loader (GML)" by Mark Lyon, this is an import utility
that will import your mail from an existing mail program that utilizes
the mbox or maildir format. Typical programs that utilize the mbox
format are Netscape, Mozilla, Pocomail, etc.
The GML page address is:
http://www.marklyon.org/gmail/default.htm

Follow the links for download:

instructions,

and download:

Here is another tool:
"gExodus - a graphical Gmail import tool":

Remember that you can convert Outlook Express and Outlook emails into
the mbox format by importing them into Mozilla Mail/News or Mozilla
Thunderbird.

This does answer my question but all the utilites mentioned all seem
to only work with mbox format. My mail is in outlook .PST files or on
IMAP servers.. The utilites you list seem to say they will be adding
this support in the future. Can you confirm that there is nothing out
they yet that will do the conversion directly?

Hi!!

Unfortunately I cannot find a tool to move your mails from Outlook to
Gmail directly. Note that this does not mean that such program does
not exist.

What I suggest to do is to download Mozilla Thunderbird from here:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/

or use the direct link:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/0.7.2/ThunderbirdSetup-0.7.2.exe

Then import all your Outlook mails into Thunderbird, for help on this
task visit the following page:
"Thunderbird - Importing Outlook Emails and Addressbooks":
http://support.real-time.com/tbird/outlook_import.html

After that you will be able to export all your mails to Gmail with one
of the utilities provided in this answer.

Hope that this helps you; and again feel free to request for any
clarification needed.

you'd probably just have to import your messages into Outlook Express first :).

I use Eudora.. (and I am sure there is a equivalent in outlook), why
don;t you redirect your messages to GMAIL account, it will maintain
the sender address in the eMail ?
