I would like to add a Hotmail / Yahoo-like email service to my Web
site, giving users the ability to sign up for accounts, etc. I'm aware
of commercial products like www.everyone.net for this.
Question: what, if any, open-source software packages out there could
I use instead to achieve the same goal more cost-effectively?
It is important that users can create their own accounts, i.e. that
they do not have to rely on my setting them up with the accounts /
email addresses.
Thank you. |

Hello, marcfest:
You can take a look to SquirrelMail at:
SquirrelMail
http://www.squirrelmail.org
Is a PHP application that let you run your own webmail. It's open
source, so you can request for any developer to add the extra code to
allow user registrations.
Is that information useful to you?
Regards.

I use SquirrelMail. It's not what I'm looking for. I am looking for a
software that comes with the ability for users to sign up for their
own accounts. Also, it should have the appeal and functionality of
something like Hotmail or Yahoo Mail.

Hi marcfest,
Have you looked at Thunderbird?

This does not look like what I'm looking for: a linux server-based,
multi-user HOTMAIL-like, Web-based email system giving new users the
ability to sign up just as users can at hotmail.com. Unless I'm
mistaken.
