Hi cioffi,

Read through the following sites. They should have all you need to
remove spyware and allow you to keep your desired homepage.

http://www.fatwallet.com/t/28/299439/

http://www.networkclue.com/utilities/pop-up/removal.php

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

The four programs to use are:

Ad-Aware
SpyBot
CWShredder
HiJackThis

If there is something you don't understand, let me know and I will
assist you further.

Waiting to hear if this solved your problem.

Best regards,
Rainbow

try downloading and running spybot and ad-aware (www.download.com) and
cwshredder (www.majorgeeks.com), make sure you update them before
scanning. if that doesn't work and you feel adventurous get
hijackthis (download.com) and remove the spyware from your registry.
be carefull with this program though you can do some serious damage if
you don't know what your doing. but the other 3 programs are safe for
pretty much everybody to use. this doesn't work try using safe mode
command prompt only. it's all command line so you'll need some DOS
skills but most of the time it does the trick.

For the home page go to downlaod.com and d/l a trial program of geek
super hero. It will help maintain your system and also let you put in
your own homepage.

Hi cioffi

All the suggestions are good. I'd like to add Spywareblaster as
another freeware program to add to your list.

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Very important: Run Spybot, AdAdaware, CWShredder and Spywareblaster
every week. Prior to running each program click to enable the update,
then run the program.

I utilize AdAware, Spybot, CWShredder, and Spywareblaster once a week
and have never had a problem with spyware.

Best regards,
tlspiegel

Dont use spybotSD as it is very dangerous and can destroy your PC if
not used incorrectly. Ad-Aware is a great choice, go onto this website

I also know of a few other good options, Aladin's Spyware Removal Tool
is a good choice. It can be purchased cheaply at PC world, Dabs.com
and many other retailers. About your home page, there are a few
possibilities. First clean out your cookies, temporary internet files,
and internet objects. Run ad-aware and then restart your computer.
Then download this

http://www.mysale.ca/sales/30605.html

There is a link on that page for the free trial version, whihc scans
your computer for free and then you need to buy the full version to
delete it. This program is amazing, it picks up deffinate spyware
aswell as possible spyware. Though it is a bit privy it can save your
computer. Another question is do u have MSN or MSN Plus Installed, cos
sometimes Chat programs can block you accessing your home page. Do all
of this and it most likley will solve your problems, otherwise, back
up all your documents and format your pc. Or if u are on windows XP
you can ask it to do a system check on the newer versions, which
replaces all Windows XP files but dosent change your documents. If u
havnt already bought anti virul software, you should do cos it is a
very good block against many PC destroyers. Norton Anti-Spam is a
great tool for removing adverts, and blocking popups. It also makes
sure you dont get spyware after you have got rid off it, which means
it is a constant moniter against spyware. Hope this helps
Regards
Chris Ambrose
PS If u arnt an experianced user, DO NOT use Hijackthis, it can
demolish your computer, it shows all the programs running, but if u
stop one that is not meant to be stopped you could endup deleting your
start menu. Just though i would tell you what my sister did :P

I appoligise for my mistakes in my last comment. Change the mistakes
to the most gramatically correct term, like this can destroy your pc
if used incorrectly, as apposed to not used incorrectly. Sorry about
this.
Chris :)
