Its' better to use more than one spyware removal programs. I WOULD
RECOMMEND THE FOLLOWING:

1. Spy-sweeper
2. LAVASOFT AD-AWARE

Your PC must also be protected by:

1. Sysgate Pewrsonal Firewall
2. An antivirus program

Spybot from www.safer-networking.org will remove most spyware and also
has an innoculate feature that keeps unwanted spyware from coming
back.

Hey, here's the steps everyone should follow to ensure you have a safe running PC.

1) First of all, the very first thing you should do is download all
critical updates from windowsupdate.microsoft.com

2) Then download "Lava Soft's Ad-Aware", at
http://shawcable.tucows.com/files2/aawsepersonal.exe

3) When finished downloading, install the software but do not run the
scan just yet, instead, download "SpyBot Search and Destroy" at
http://users.belgacom.net/bn657515/spybotsd13.exe

4) Install "SpyBot Search and Destroy" and it will ask you several
things during installation, one of them will ask if you want to
install "TeaTimer", (teatimer is a program that alerts you when an
application or spyware tries to modify system wide settings and you
can choose to allow or deny). I would recommend you install TeaTimer,
it has protected my computer 99.8% away from spyware unless of course
I press the Allow button by accident.

5) When finished installing,

SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY
--> Run "SpyBot Search and Destroy" and click on, search for updates
--> Check the box that saids "Detection Rules"
--> Click on the button, "Download Updates" at the top of the program
--> Go back to the left side of the program and click on "Search and destroy"
--> Click on check for problems and let it scan (This may take a while)
--> When done, there should be a white box FULL of red text
--> Go to the top of the program and click on "fix selected problems"
--> If you are using XP, it should automatically create a restore
point in case anything happens
--> It should ask for confirmation, "You are about to remove checked
entires, Do you want to Continue", click YES
--> When it finishes, go to the left of the program and click "IMMUNIZE"
--> On the right, click on the green plus sign that saids, "IMMUNIZE"
--> It will do a quick scan
--> Close "Spybot Search and Destroy"

LAVASOFT AD-AWARE
--> Open the program up
--> Click on "CHECK FOR UPDATES NOW" at the low bottom of the program
--> Then a new window should pop up, click on "CONNECT"
--> It Should say, "NEW REFERENCE FILE AVAILABLE"
--> Click on OKAY when it asks Download and Install this file
--> When finished, go to the left of the program and click, "SCAN NOW"
--> Then Choose, "Smart Scan" under Scan Methods
--> Click NEXT, then let it scan (May take a while)
--> When done, it should show a list of the remaining spyware
--> Right click, and choose, "SELECT ALL"
--> Click NEXT, and confirmation box pops-up, click OKAY
--> When it finishes, you can close the program

6) Click on this link, http://allsecpros.com/download/spywareblastersetup.exe
to download spyware blaster.

7) Install the software, follow the on-screen instructions, basically
just keep clicking next

8) When finished, run the program and follow these instructions

SPYWARE BLASTER
--> Click on up dates on the left side of the program
--> Then click on "CHECK FOR UPDATES"
--> It should connect to the server, then follow program instructions
--> When finished, click on PROTECTION on the left side
--> Depending on the browser, click on, "ENABLE PROTECTION"
--> Then it brings you to a new screen, check the box, RESTRICT ADWARE
--> Then Click PROTECT AGAINST CHECKED ITEMS at the bottom
--> Exit the program and you're done!

9) Pat yourself on the back, because you just made your computer
almost bulletproof to spyware, and I say almost because nothing is
perfect, as time passes, make sure you keep updating all the software
and do periodic scans with Ad-aware and Spybot.

And as for chagning your homepage part, after you do all the steps,
you should be able to change the homepage back to whatever you want.

If not, tell me what homepage it is forcing you to use.
