I have just started purchasing shoes from China as a side venture.  I
started small with order less than $1000 just to test and recently
decided to may a $7000 investment.  Now I am told that my shoes are
being seized by US Customs.  I would like to make a business out of
importing the shoes but I need to know what i need to do to avoid US
Customs from seizing my import?

Footwear importing is highly technical and strict, there are also
country of origin and may be trademark issues,

For this reason I would suggest-

1. Locate the U.S. Customs port office closest to you, contact them
and ask to set-up a half-hour face-to-face meeting with someone
regarding shoe imports.

You may also find useful information and do searches on the U.S.
Customs website-  www.customs.gov  for more detailed information on
footwear importing.

2. Contact a Customhouse broker or consult with someone who holds a
U.S. Customhouse broker's license and they may advise you of the
regulations regarding importing.  These services are available for a
fee.
