This may help: "HERSHEY'S Sugar Free is sweetened with lactitol, a sugar replacer that causes only a slight rise in blood sugar levels, making it an acceptable choice in moderation for people with diabetes and other carbohydrate-conscious chocolate lovers." http://www.hersheyssugarfree.com/aboutsugarfree.html |

pinkfreud, thanks for the info. Now it seems the Hershey's sugar free stufff is not good enough for my grandpa. Could you help me find some chocolate/candy made with Xylitol? Thanks! |

Some of the experts are of the opinion that none of the artificial sweetners are completely safe for anyone, so grampa should only eat small ammounts occasionally. This may not be a big problem as some people don't like the taste of any of the artificial sweeteners. Neil |
