Question ID: 379739
If the label says "sugar free", does it mean that it's diabetic safe?
If some is and some isn't, please let me know what is safe, and what
is not. Paticularly interested in Hershey's sugar free chocolate. Thanks!

This may help:

"HERSHEY'S Sugar Free is sweetened with lactitol, a sugar replacer
that causes only a slight rise in blood sugar levels, making it an
acceptable choice in moderation for people with diabetes and other
carbohydrate-conscious chocolate lovers."

Some of the experts are of the opinion that none of the artificial
sweetners are completely safe for anyone, so grampa should only eat
small ammounts occasionally. This may not be a big problem as some
people don't like the taste of any of the artificial sweeteners.
