I'm basically looking for something similar to Alexa.com but which
focusses on UK web usage.

Thanks for asking!

Ranking.com is a service similar to Alexa, that ranks websites and
offers traffic statistics, but with the added feature of allowing a
breakdown by country, including the U.K.

Ranking.com
http://www.rankings.com

"Since 1998, Ranking.com has performed market research upon a
statistically, geographically and demographically significant number
of Internet surfers. By recording these surfers' website visits,
Ranking.com calculates the ranking for the top 900,000 (growing every
month) most visited websites and provides these results to surfers
absolutely FREE for all its services!"

From the Ranking.com homepage, click on the RANKING link in the
horizontal menu bar. You'll need to enter a code to prove you're human
(as opposed to a 'bot).

Right under the Ranking.com Report heading, click on the COUNTRY link,
which will take you to: Ranking.com Report By Country.

In the top drop-down menu, scroll down and select United Kingdom/Great
Britain. Press the Go button next to the line that reads: "View the
complete list starting at ranking number 1 (numeral in the textbox).

The listing result offers the following information about each site:

Country Rank
Web Rank
Domain Name
TrustGauge
Unique Visitors
Visits
Page Views
Links

50 sites are shown per page, use the button at the lower right of the
chart to advance to further pages.

At some point the system -might- log you out of the reporting pages.
To continue, simply click back in to the Country Report option and
start where you left off by entering the beginning rank numeral (i.e.
500, or 700, etc.) into the textbox to replace the default value of 1.

u.k. "most popular websites"

I hope you find this information useful. Should you have questions
about the material offered, please, feel free to ask.

Hi Larre,

I probably should have mentioned that I already knew about
ranking.com; however the country filter doesn't pick up on some major
UK-oriented sites in the UK listings such as lastminute.com or
Play.com. Nor does it really highlight the "movers and shakers" in the
same way.

It's my fault for not asking the question properly, and this is my
first time on Google answers, but any further ideas would be wellr
eceived.

Many thanks
