Hello, When I called that number, I got a personal answering machine. Are you sure it's a fax number? Nenna-GA |

You get a voicemail because it's my personal phone number - some phone list or website somewhere has it listed as a fax number, and I keep getting LOTS of calls from fax machines. Very annoying, with all the beeping voicemails the machines keep leaving. I want to find out where it is listed so I can contact them and tell them to please correct their mistake. |

Hello again, In doing a google search, I didn't find a reference to your number. It could be more than likely that someone's fax # got misprinted on a business card. We'll keep looking into this for you however. Nenna-GA |

If you have call blocking and caller ID, you could try and block that number. Call your phone company and see what you can do about it. |

Thanks, I appreciate your looking into this. I called Cingular (my service provider) a couple months ago to see if there was anything I could do, but since the calls come from many different numbers - three different ones today, in fact - they told me there was nothing that could be done. Here's hoping one of you fine people can figure it out! |

I believe you are getting junk faxes, most likely sent by a company
called Fax.com, which is supposedly responsible for most unsolicited
faxes in the US. They buy fax number lists but also do blanket
machine cold-calls to sniff out fax machines. It's possible your line
once had a fax machine on it (prior phone customer?) or the number
inadvertently has gotten into a junk marketer's system.
As you can read from the following site:
http://www.junkfax.org/fax/basic_info/junk_fax_qa.htm
These companies, in particular Fax.com, are notorious for being
unresponsive, even after multiple requests and law suits. We've been
getting junk faxes at our home fax machine for a few months now, and
we can't find any way to stop it. It appears the only way to even
attempt to stop them is to sue them for damages under California law
(where they are located), and even then often they don't seem to stop.
I would recommend reading that URL and scrolling down to the Q/A
entitled "I don't have a fax machine, but starting at midnight, I get
fax calls! What can I do?"
