Hello.

The 1956 Democratic National Convention was held in Chicago.

It started on August 13, 1956, and ended on August 18, 1956.

See:

Just one more note...

The Eisenhower library at University of Texas describes the 1956
convention as follows:

"Aug. 13-17, 1956, International Amphitheatre, Chicago, Ill."
http://www.eisenhower.utexas.edu/page3.htm

After looking at the information on the New York Times page, it seems
that Sen. Kefauver's acceptance of the vice-presidential nomination
ended late on the evening of August 17th, the festivities presumably
continued into the early hours of the 18th.

I didn't want to leave the impression that there was a full day's
worth of convention activities on the 18th.
