I am doing some work for Qantas, writing procedures for their Ramp &
Baggage employees. They have some drawings from above but I am looking
for outline drawings from above for the following aircraft: Boeing
777, MD11, Dash 8, A320, A340. I need the drawings to show where all
the vehicles in an Aircraft Turnaround are positioned.

Hello swinny, I assume that you are using a CAD program to prepare the
drawings you refer to. Otherwise I do not see how you would possibly
be able to position accurate drawings of all the aircraft in the
positions you require. That being said, here are links and information
for all of the aircraft you list:

CAD 3 View Drawings for Airport Planning Purposes
Download Three-View Drawings (plan, side and front views) of the
following aircraft in AutoCAD format (.dwg or .dxf) for airport
planning purposes. These drawings are used for gate planning purposes
and should be accurate within +/- 6 inches. Refer to dimensions noted
in Section 2 of the respective Airplane Characteristics for Airport
Planning documents found elsewhere on this website and adjust as
necessary. Note, these files have been compressed in .zip format and
your browser needs to be configured correctly to download.

This takes care of the Boeing 777 and MD11.

You can download the vectorial drawings of the Aircraft of your choice.
Place your mouse on the drawing for an animated preview.
You will need a EPS compatible software to open these files.

This takes care of the Airbus 320 and 340.

Sorry, you may have to pay for the drawings of the Dash 8.

I believe that this gives you a good source for the drawings you require.

Good luck with your project, Redhoss

I am curious to know how you are going to accomplish your project
without using CAD. I have done alot of drawing in my time and for what
you are describing (if accuracy is important) CAD is the only way.

THanks for the timely response. Unfortunately I have neither CAD or
EPS software but I have fwd the downloads to someone who may be able
to convert them. If you know of anywhere else I can get them...?
