Hi, I need to find an estimate of how many Champagne glasses there are in the world today (the tall fluted kind). I know this is a bit of a tricky one - but I'm not expecting anything very precise - just a plausible estimate with an explanation including internet references where appropriate. If possible upper and lower bounds on the number would be good too. Thanks |

Hi, Thought of making a try. World population is 6 billion (approx). Assuming about 15% of people drinks in Champagne glasses, it amounts to 900 million glasses. Assuming a person comes across atleast 30 champagne glasses in his life time, then it amounts to 900 million X 30 = 27 billion glasses. Same champagne glasses may be reused by different persons (say 10 persons) especially in hotels, bars, etc (in the lifetime of a champagne glasses) . So 27 billion may be reduced to 2.7 billion. So there must be about 2.7 billion of champagne glasses in the world right now!!! Best Regards epedia |
