Hi

I'd like a list of the gods, goddesses and mortals Loki slept with.
The Lokesenna mentions several...but I've been unable to find a
"modern language" translation of it. I'm writing a "romantica" short
about Loki's love life.

Thanks!

Hi thorgunna,

After several hours of research, I was able to locate five lovers
and/or wives of Loki. Since I'm not sure if you have these five, I
will post them here. If this is a sufficient answer, let me know and I
will post this as an official answer, with references.

Here they are:

Sigyn
Angrboda
Glut
Svadlfari
Sif

Waiting to hear your views.

Best regards,
Rainbow

Hi thorgunna,

Thank you for your clarification. Here is the list again with
references underneath. Those listed are capitalized in the references
for your convenience.

Sigyn
Angrboda
Glut
Svadilfari
Sif

He had a huge stallion called SVADILFARI, which could haul boulders
like there was no tomorrow.
With three days to go, Freya was in distress and the Gods aghast. So
Loki changed himself into a mare and seduced the stallion. By
whinnying and prancing off into the woods, Svadilfari was led far away
from the stone pile..."
(...)
"Loki never missed an opportunity to take advantage of any Goddess,
despite already having had three wives. The first not many folk know
about, and it is only by assiduous research we have discovered GLUT,
who bore two daughters Einmyria and Eisa. Next was ANGRBODA, a
giantess who spawned Fenrir the Giant Wolf, Jormungand the
Earth-encircling Serpent, and Hel the Underworld Goddess. Finally
there was his wife SIGYN, who produced their son Narvi."

"SIF: Thor's wife. Goddess of the crops. She was said to have
beautiful hair, which Loki is said to have cut off. But cutting off a
woman's hair was a Norse punishment for adultery, and many scholars
agree that this was a gentler way Christian scribes recorded the myth.
They say it is quite likely Loki slept with SIF, and Thor found out,
and things were not right again until Loki got the dwarfs to make her
a new head of hair. This would likely be a yearly cycle, where SIF is
Thor's wife in the summer, and her hair is the plant life of the
world. In the winter she becomes Loki's lover, and is shorn of her
hair, and the plants of the world die."
