I like Duchamp's "Nude Descending a Staircase" because it displays an entire movement through time in one momentary image. It is like time is seen at once, as one added dimension. But that is not necessarily a characteristic of all cubism. Then there is the obvious distortion of space-- detail and nuances are often maintained, but only by general representations, etc. etc. |
