As far as I know no VHS video recorders will record teletext. The
problem (trying not to get to technical about it!) is that the
teletext signal is "hidden" in what's called the "vertical blanking
interval" - you may notice it sometimes as a pattern of dots at the
very top of the screen. VHS recorders lack the resolution to record
the signal clearly.

There may well be specialist recorders out there (say for deaf people)
that allow recording teletext but I can't seem to find any.

I did find this:

http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/acrobat/other/cms/98_232.pdf

a paper about a prototype VHS recorder that will record teletext, but
unfortunately there's no date on it so I can't tell if it's a recent
idea or if the product already exsists.

You may find some success with using S-VHS (Super VHS) recorders as
they have a higher resolution. Also I don't know if DVD recorders or
hard disk recorders like the TIVO might record teletext. If you can
borrow any of these things it might be worth experimenting.

S-VHS recorders can reproduce teletext. I have a JVC HR-S5950EU, which
performes this feat. Even in the semi-S-VHS mode.
But it's not flawless. I contacted JVC (Netherlands), because I wanted
a DVD recorder with teletext recording possibilities (There are none)
and they told me that it's an accidental feature of S-VHS, but not
garanteed, so they cannot put it in the specifications. Even with
expensive S-VHS tapes, you miss characters at random. But all in all
it works.
I'm stll looking for a way to record them on DVD. I have Terratec
Cynergy 400 TV-card, which can display TXT, but I have found no way to
record them.

My parents have a Philips VCR (normal VHS, not S-VHS) that can record
teletekst subtitles. It's a rather old model, but perhaps Philips
still has VCR that can do this (I couldn't find it on the Philips site
though).
