Besides that, in order to be as sure as I could that did understand

Now, the most comprehensive source that I could find to get the whole
picture is the LyngSat Network. This would be the process:
First, going to LyngSat.com ( http://www.lyngsat.com ) . Once there,
there?s a chart which columns are headed by longitudes? ranges, each
corresponding to a different continent. We are interested in the line
?frequencies? (I learned that by emailing the contact person at
LyngSat Network, who kindly explained it to me). There we can click on
the continent of our interest. Let?s start with ?America?
(http://www.lyngsat.com/america.html ). Clicking on the first
satellite link of the list (Echostar 3), a chart detailing all of the
channels transmitted by that satellite is shown

found in this chart, by clicking on it, the uplink teleport

Hello,
Sorry for my late answer, but I had to take an unplanned trip to
Europe (death in the family).
Thank you very much for all your work.
I am familiar with the LyngSat website where you got most of the data from.
However, the information provided by Lyngsat alone is not enough to
answer my question.
To repeat my question, I was looking for 2 things:
1. Which company provides origination and uplink services for A
SPECIFIC channel (such as Food Network).
2. From which facility (teleport) is that channel uplinked.
Your data (from Lyngsat) partially answers #2, by listing the
teleports that uplink to a specific satellite.
However, the most important part of the question (i.e. #1) cannot be
found from Lyngsat's website alone, and your answer still does not
provide that.
For example, I am looking for an answer of this sort:
"Scripps' channel 'Food Network' is originated and uplinked from
Scripps' own facility in Tennessee".
I really do not care to what satellite the channel is uplinked to.
Now, I understand that you did a tremendous amount of work, and I
really appreciate that.
However, please let me know if you can provide me with the data I
asked for in my original question, i.e for EACH channel (Food Network,
Discovery Wings, etc), who (i.e. Scripps' own facility, etc) and where
from (Tennessee, etc) is the channel originated and uplinked from.
If you can answer the question the way I formulated it, please let me
know, so I can wait.
If you think that you hit a dead end, let me know too.
Maybe we can work something out regarding compensation for your work.

Regarding my answer to your question, I thank your for your
appreciation of my work, while pointing out how I misunderstood your
focus. I believe that I could rebuild my answer in order to meet your
needs, by revisiting some of the sources I?ve come across in my
search, but I would need a couple of days to make sure of it, before
giving you a definitive answer on whether this will be possible or I?m
actually at my dead end. Is this OK for you? Thanks.

If you think that you can provide me with the answer I was looking
for, I can wait another 2 days (until the end of September 18, 2004).
I would like to emphasize again the answer format I am expecting:
For EACH TV channel in US (such as Discovery Wings, The Food Network,
MTV En Espanol, etc), I need to know 2 things:
1. The name of the company which provides the origination and the
uplink services (note that one company can provide
origination/playout, and another company can provide uplink to a
satellite).
2. The facility (location) where the origination and uplink services are provided.
As another example, for EACH TV channel in US, I am looking for an
answer of the following form:
"Playboy's 'Spice 1' channel is both originated and uplinked from
Playboy's own facility, Andrita Studios, in LA".
or
"The NFL Network channel is originated and uplinked from Ascent
Media's facilities in Stamford, CT."
I hope these 2 examples are clear enough to make you understand the
kind of answer I am looking for.
If you want, I can provide you with an Excel list of all the TV
channels in US (about 500 channels).
As I mentioned, if you believe you can find the information to answer
my question in the form requested, let me know.

I wish I had understood the task better in the very beginning. Despite
your original question was clear enough, the complexity of the
industry and its information resources led me to misunderstanding.
Your clarification requests made me realize of that.
According to what I?ve found now by revisiting sources and trying new
searches, gathering the information in the way you need it, and so
widely complete, seems to require a deeper and more specialized type
of research. I can?t speak for my colleagues; maybe a better skilled
GA researcher would do with it. However, my guess is that the amount
of work and the access to specific industry data that such a search
would take be far beyond the scope this service is meant to reach.
That said, I invite you to use your right to reject the answer, so you
don?t get charged. You can do it within 30 days from the answer
posting ?what happened on august 28.
Certainly, I?m glad for the recognition you?ve expressed about my
effort, and appreciate your will to compensate it. However, I could
only accept compensation as long as the output of my work proves
useful for you.
I could offer you to reconstruct my answer omitting the satellites?
references, and organizing it in the way you described, so it would be
clearer to read. (BTW, I knew that you weren?t interested in the
satellites, but being their charts the sources that linked channels
and their respective uplink stations, I mentioned them as sources.)
Likewise, I could do the same for the European segment, which I had
planned to include.
To build a complete list of origination and uplink providers for each
channel may require a consulting service specialized in the industry.
If you are interested, I could also include links to such resources.
With all of this, I expect you could count with a body of useful
information: a part of what you asked for, and complementary data you
could use to complete your search. If you don?t find it useful, please
do not hesitate to use your right to reject the answer, what would be
absolutely understandable for me. Please let me know your thoughts.
