I would like the full text and an arrangement of the Hungarian
paratroopers' anthem. From what I have been told, it originates from
WWII. I've only heard it sung, but I'm sure an arranged version
exists. I would prefer an arrangement for voice, if at all possible.
The lyrics, as I know them:

Hogyha a gépünk messzire száguld, és hull a sok hös vitéz,
Fentröl a gépböl ugrik a század, és a pilóta lenéz.
Sóhajtva gondol a hös csapatra, 's könnyezve búcsukat int.

A note: as I have learned the lyrics and melody from others, I'm not
sure that they are entirely correct. Not sure whether this will have
any bearing, but I figured I may as well mention it.

Do you understand Hungarian? i.e. Would Hungarian websites or
information from Hungarian sources be helpful to you?

tardis:

Yes, I am fluent in Hungarian, both written and spoken. I've
attempted searching the web for the lyrics before, but haven't had any
success, which is why I turned to GA.

From what I'm told, the song's name in Hungarian is something along
the lines of "Ejtöernyösök indulója". ("Ejtöernyösök" are
paratroopers and an "induló" is a march or anthem.)

Hello again,

I haven't been able to find that specific paratrooper's anthem, but my
uncle from Hungary sent me the words to this one. No music,
unfortunately. He also said that each troop (egyseg) had its own
anthem and symbol. However, there was also a common symbol and common
anthem for all paratroopers, and that is what you'll find below.

Honvéd ejtoernyos induló

Vészes, sötét felhok fölött,
Kék ég s a föld között.
Száguld, rohan a gépmadár
És zúgva messze száll.

Honvéd ejtoernyos vagyok én,
Rettenthetetlen, bátor és eros,
Bajtól, vésztol nem félek én,
Mert e csapat mind hos.

Terhes, nehéz az éji lég,
Magasan száll a gép.
S a hos csapat az ajtaján
Ugrásra készen áll!

Honvéd ejtoernyos vagyok én,
Rettenthetetlen, bátor és eros,
Bajtól, vésztol nem félek én,
Mert e csapat mind hos.

Ooh, very nice.

I apologize for the delay in my response; I was out of town at a camp
Aug 5-15, with no 'Net access.

While I was at the Hungarian Scout camp, Mr. Ede Chaszar (Csedebá)
told me that the anthem is actually one common to the whole of the
Hungarian military, and that the paratroopers had written a verse
specific to them. The common verse that he taught me, while similar
to the second verse of what I know as the paratroopers' anthem it, has
some differences:

Hope it helps, tardis and thanks for the info so far!

tardis-ga:

This may not apply to the question I asked but is there any way to get
the melody, or a score or arrangement of the anthem you quoted above?

Hi,

Hope camp was fun. Unfortunately, my uncle was only able to find the
lyrics of the anthem. You may want to try some Hungarian book or music
stores either here or in Hungary. They may be able to find it for you.
I've had good experiences with Blue Danube books in New York City.
Good luck.
Also, I am not one of the Google answer people, but "czh-ga" of the
Google answerers appears to be of Hungarian origin, and may also be
able to help.
