I wish to know how to add dates to the digital photographs I take.
I have a Canon EOS 300D (also called Rebel) and use Adobe Photoshop
Elements. Although the camera records the date the image is taken
(along with a myriad of other details), I cannot get it to imprint
this date on the photo - and this is what I wish to do.
Ideally I would like to alter a setting on the camera to make this
possible, but so far feel this is not possible.
An alternative would be to use the batch processing facility on
Photoshop Elements to imprint the date on.
Another possibility would be to use a 3rd party piece of software to
imprint the date on an image - but this would have to be done as a
single action with all images in a folder, otherwise it will be too
time consuming to manipulate images singally.

Hello Docmark-ga,

In researching your question, I spoke with Canon directly and they
explained to me how to achieve this date and time stamp question. The
software that comes with the camera, Zoom Browser, has an option when
you go to print from it that will imprint date/time, filename, or
comments to your picture. However, if you have used ANY other program
to edit the picture, it removes the metatag that holds this
information, and Zoom Browser cannot do this feature anymore. There is
not a way on the camera itself that will attach any of this
information to the picture.

I recommend using PS Elements to do this then, since I'm sure you'd
like to edit more than Zoom Browser may allow, and since if you've
already edited the picture...you can't go back now and do this.

The Watermark idea is a good one as well. I suggest using Easy
Watermark Creator. I have used this program before, and while I am not
100% sure that you can do images as a batch in a folder, it is so
simple it would barely take any time to do them 1 by 1 if you had to.

Hello again,

Doing some more research, I have put my foot in my mouth. I'm not
entirely sure Elements can batch process the date and time like you
want. However, image organizing software that recognizes and can
extract exif data should
let you do this - such as Thumbs Plus
http://www.cerious.com/photo-management-software.shtml or Qimage
http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/feature.htm but, if you want to buy one of
these, be sure to use their tryout version before buying to make sure it
does what you want.

Consider a watermark program. Here's a sample of some that are
available: http://www.handyarchive.com/free/watermark/
