I need a way to recognize automaticaly cd's (without a drive) , I am looking for some barcoding technique that will be placed in the inner ring of the cd/dvd (the unused area). assume that this is not a rare issue and that there are solutions for this problem. I need a pointer to some activeX control (or a way to make control out of a dll) that handle such barcodes. I preffer free software , but also interested to know about licensed solutions |

Two stickers with barcodes can do it. Won't be round, but they'd offset each other for spin. Print a barcode on, say, Avery 5130 labels in LANDSCAPE mode, ... it should be small enough for placement, if you have one "line" of 12pt barcode. Even if you had ability to do a "round" barcode, you'd still need to have a barcode scanner to read it. This isn't necessarily a standard item. You don't need special software to read the code, as the barcode scanner is usually a keyboard wedge. That means the scans come in as if typed on a keyboard. It's up to you to find a database that will match a barcode to your CD Inventory. Then print the barcode... You'll need a scanner. http://shorterlink.com/?WWOLFK is a good start. It includes scanner and some barcode fonts. http://shorterlink.com/?CDTLTC for more information. |
