i need info from an expert caterpillar 973 mechanic in the south west or south

here in northern Pa, where we use the 973's in our quarry work the
universial joints keep breaking and then the broken pieces go back and
grind up our transmissions.   I seems to us that the collar for the
part is too thin.  Do you have the same trouble in your area?

What info do you need-my husband works at a Cat dealer-both truck and
heavy equipment and he is willing to help!

He checked at work and no one has heard of any problems.
The only problem he had heard of was not using Grade 8 bolts to mount
the U Joints.  Grade 5 do not work.  This is in Ohio.

it is the universial joint assembly  part no    9t6526

do you know if they replace a lot of them

I think that they changed the design in 2002 with the 973c and left
the joint out or changed it

He says to call the technical coordinator at the local cat dealer for more info.
