Steve,
I am not finding any information on the program pops4 or the
executable file sqgcnl.exe. I can tell you most virii can randomly
name files. I can give you the directions to load AdAware and how to
use a specific online anti-virus program to solve this issue. Please
let me know if you would accept this as an answer.

Ad-aware dosent see it at all.(not the free version anyway) Neither
does AVG anti-virus or spybot S&D. Ive updated all the definitions,
and got the latest build of Adaware. I also tried a couple online
virus scans, Trend Micro and some other one, and neither detect
anything.
The only reason i know its there is because Zone Alarm tells me that
its trying to access the internet.
So Im all set with Adaware, but if you can point me to where to get
detection/removal scan or tool, that will be an acceptable anwser.
Thanks

ok let's try my favorite online virus scan, been using them for years
and they've never failed me.
1. Go to the following URL, click scan my pc.
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm
2. A small window will popup with some information about the scan,
when you are ready click next.
3. You will be asked for your email address. I can tell you their
emails are informative, and not annoying, and they do not share your
email address. They have had my hidden email address for quite some
time and I receive little to no spam at that address. You can also
provide a false address if you so desire.
4. A download window will open, you may at this time be asked to
approve Panda software to install software on your machine. Simply
click yes. As I have mentioned eariler, this is a very trustworthy
company and I have used them for a long time.
5. Finally a window will open which lets you choose what to scan, and
on the right side options for this scan. Be sure to check all boxes,
they are labled as follows:
Disinfect automatically
Scan compressed files
Scan e-mail files
Detect unknown viruses (heuristic)
Neutralize Trojans
Then choose ALL MY COMPUTER. If you choose this first, you won't get
to check the boxes for the scan options.
I suggest doing this when you don't need the computer for a while.
this is affected by your computers speed, and amount of your hard
drive space used.
I look forward to hearing good news from you,

From the start menu, click on search, enter the name of the file in
question(sqgcnl.exe ). Once it finds it on your hard drive, it will
display the folder structure in which the file is found. Please let us
know that folder structure perhaps this is software that is
intentionally installed.

According to Tweak XP
http://www.tweakxp.com/tweak525.aspx
"This is an unique technique for WinXP. We know that it is necessary
to wash registry and TEMP files for Win9X/ME/2000 periodly. Prefetch
is a new and very useful technique in Windows XP. However, after using
XP some time, the prefetch folder can get full of rarely used or
obsolete links which can slow down your computer noticeably. My
suggestion is: open C(system drive):/windows/prefetch, delete all
files (or at least those more than 3 weeks old), reboot. I recommended
that you do this every month."
So...delete that file.
