In the 2002 elections to the Swedish parliament (the Riksdag) the 29 national electoral districts (or constituencies) returned a total of 310 representatives (or seats) while a further 39 "equalization" seats were distributed on a national basis to ensure more proportional representation of districts in the Riksdag. So for instance, since the 2002 elections Halland County has been represented by 11 members in the Riksdag, while Stockholm County has 44 representatives. What I would like to know is how many representatives those and the other 27 districts had in the Riksdag in the elections between 1945 and 2002. An ideal answer might listing all the districts in Sweden between 1945 and 2002 and how many representatives each had in the Riksdag in 1948 (the first election year after 1945), 1952,...,2002. My suspicion is that all this is probably on the web somewhere but hard to find because it's in Swedish or hidden in a political scientist's data set. A couple quick notes: There weren't always 29 electoral districts. From 1948 to 1991 there were 28 (increasing to 29 in 1994), and some renaming has occurred since 1994. Also, the Riksdag was bicameral prior to 1971. To be complete an answer need only give the distribution of seats in the Second Chamber (the Andra Kammaren, the directly-elected one between 1945 and 1970) among the 28 districts. Thanks a lot! |

That's a neat site, but as far as I can see all it really gives are elections results according to party. That's readily available on the web. What I'm actually after is how many representatives each national district had in the Riksdag after each election since 1948. |
