I have asked almost everyone on the internet and at the National Park
Service about this question but haven't been able to get an answer. I
do not believe this answer is on the computer. I am looking for a
researcher who would be willing to research this question for me. I
need aleast 2 full pages worth of information about this monument.

I am looking for information about the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal
Monument which is on 30th street and Canal Road. It is just about onto
of a bridge at that location. I believe it is at the beginning of the
canal and represents the completion of the Canal which was dedicated I
believe in July 1850. I would apprecaite anybody that might be able to
help me with this.

Thank you

Stephen,

I believe part of the canal you are talking about goes through
Richmond VA. Here is a number r more information, please call the
Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau at (888) RICHMOND
or email us. http://www.richmondriverfront.com/canalwalk.shtml

I went on a canal cruise ($5.00) last year, and recall the tour
operator telling all about the canal, length, time it took to build,
dedication, et al. I hope this can point you in that direction.

No, I don't think that you are correct. I believe canal we are talking
about runs from Georgetown Waterfront Park in DC to Cumberland, MD. I
think about 184.5 miles. I do not think that it goes as far down as
Richomd, VA.

Can you do some more research for me and let me know.

You are right, I am wrong, I would respectfully delete my
misinformation if I knew how, I wish you the best.
