Hi Wazmaya,

Not knowing who your plastic surgeon is, I can only give you links to
two databases that will allow you to look up your surgeon and see.

First, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons has a database of
board certified members:
http://www.plasticsurgery.org/find_a_plastic_surgeon/index.cfm

Second, here is information from the American Board of Plastic Surgery
on what board certification means, and how to get it:
http://www.abplsurg.org/faq.html

Third, you can register with the American Board of Medical Specialties
to search their databases of all doctors certified through one of
their subgroups (of which the ABPS is one):
http://www.abms.org/login.asp

I found these sites through the MedlinePlus Directories list:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/directories.html. Please let me
know if I can assist you further with this question!

The most approved and accredited board in the country (U.S) is the
American Board of Medical Specialties http://www.abms.org. They are
the umbrella of 24 member boards such as The American Board of Plastic
surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, and many others. If your doctor is
not listed in the "abms", the chances are he/she is not board
certified or its a clerical error. Keep in mind just because a doctor
is "Board Certified" it does not mean he/she are the best. All
specialists "now days" should be board certified."

More now than ever, consumers are going to sites like
http://www.castleconnolly.com, http://www.mdnationwide.org and
http://www.bestdoctors.com. The reason is these sites (businesses)
specialize ONLY in researching the top MDs in the U.S. Most other
sites simply buy and sell disciplinary reports etc, they dont have any
methodologies in place where they actually research ONLY the best.

I hope this bit of info helps.

Good luck!
